How to Block the New Outlook on M365 Subscription based Installations

Microsoft to roll out updated Outlook software from 6th January 2025
The purpose of this post is to make you aware of some upcoming changes to Microsoft Outlook that could affect the ability to send documents from your Sage system.
From 6th January 2025, Microsoft will begin a phased migration to an updated version of their email software, Outlook. This update withdraws some technical features that provide the ability for software applications to integrate with Outlook to send emails, such as with Sage 200.
Further action may be required if you currently integrate with Outlook to email documents. The changes recommended below will require input from your Managed IT Services partner, so please make them aware before 6th January.
At present, the following software applications have known compatibility issues with New Outlook:
- Sage 200
- Draycir Spindle Document Distribution
- Sicon Service and CRM modules
- Sage products that use Sage Report Designer, such as Sage 50 Payroll or Sage 50 Accounts
The requirement to install New Outlook is currently optional and automatic migration is controlled by settings within your Microsoft 365 Application Admin Centre. Please contact your Managed IT Services Provider for further guidance on this topic.

Pinnacle recommend that you make the relevant configuration changes to prevent the migration to New Outlook until further notice.
For Sage and Draycir products, it is possible to make some configuration changes that still support document sending by direct integration with your email server rather than through the Outlook client.
